Carol Jantsch’s 2020 album POWERHOUSE is another delightful trove of varied repertoire from the Philadelphia Orchestra’s tuba player. Castro’s Sonatina for Tuba (commissioned by Jantsch) premiered to popular acclaim at the 2018 International Tuba/Euphonium Conference. The remaining selections are Jantsch’s arrangements and adaptations for tuba, some of which are available for purchase at her online store where all proceeds go to the nonprofit Tubas For Good. Cartoon fans will recognize the Raymond Scott tunes, which Carol recorded with her brother Bert on piano and her Tubular bandmate Andy Emerich on drums. Ranging from playful to heartfelt, this collection of tuba music will leave you smiling and whistling tunes.
